How To Choose The Right Sized Greyhound Pyjamas

It’s very important to choose the correct size for your Greyhound Pyjamas, T-shirts or Jumpers.

Too big and they will not provide as much warmth, risk getting snagged on something during zoomies, and just generally look untidy.

Too small and they won’t let your Greyhound stretch and roach as they need, becoming uncomfortable to wear.

Here at Blas & Co we are very proud of the close fitting clothing we have designed, which perfectly fits the unique shape of a Greyhounds body while also being super stretchy.

This means they can keep your Greyhound warm, protected and looking fantastic, no matter how extreme their zoomies are!

We offer Greyhound clothing in 4 sizes to accommodate the majority of adult Greyhounds – plus other similar sighthound breeds such as Galgos, Salukis and Lurchers.

Remember we also offer our “Easy-fit Belly Alteration” for Greyhounds which do not like their legs being bent, or suffer from arthritis.

Choosing The Right Size For Your Greyhound Clothing - Blas & Co - Greyhound & Whippet Clothing

Please note: The dimensions shown above are that of the garment itself, not the recommended size of your Greyhound.

We use the same fit across our range of Pyjamas/T-shirts and Jumpers. So once you find a size that works for your dog you can be certain the fit will be the same no matter which garment you pick next time.

TL;DR

As a general rule of thumb, you should pick a size based upon the chest measurement of your dog, and our lengths usually fit perfectly based on this.

Your Greyhounds chest will spread out a bit when they are relaxed, laying down or roaching, so we recommend picking a size that is at least 3 cm (about an inch) bigger than your hound’s actual chest size.

If this ends up in-between sizes pick a size based on your personal preference between a snug fit and a relaxed one, or if you are very unsure please don’t hesitate to contact us so we can make sure your hound gets the perfect fit.

Let’s talk a bit more about each of our sizes, and show you some examples

Small Size

Our ‘Small’ size will accommodate particularly small Greyhounds, as well as a number of Lurchers.

This size was added to our range after we received a number of requests from Lurchers and a couple of petite Greyhound girls who couldn’t quite find the right size for them.

We recommend the Small size for hounds with a chest between 62 and 69 cm (about 24 – 27 inches)

Medium Size

Our ‘Medium’ size will fit most female Greyhounds and some smaller males.

This size is ideal for Greyhounds with chests between 68 and 75 cm  (about 27 – 29.5 inches).

For example, our female Greyhound, Dora, always wears a Medium and she measures 72.5 cm (about 28.5 inches) at the chest and 69 cm (about 27 inches) along the back.

This Medium sized Sage Polka Dot Greyhound T-shirt suits her perfectly and allows her to get into all sorts of awkward positions on the sofa – which she does frequently!

Larger Greyhounds can still fit in a Medium if you want a very snug fit, particularly because the material is very stretchy, but you want to ensure your Greyhound is going to be comfortable at all times.

Large Size

This is by far our most popular size for adult Greyhounds. We recommend this for Greyhounds with chests between 74 and 81 cm (about 29 – 31.5 inches).

From our experience most Greyhound males and some larger Greyhound females will need a Large size.

Our male Greyhound, Mozzie, always wears Large and it fits him perfectly. His chest measures 79 cm (about 31 inches) and his back is 74 cm long (about 29 inches).

Greyhound Pyjamas/T-shirt - Arctic Night - Blas & Co - Greyhound Clothing

He never roaches and always sleeps curled up in a ball and therefore this Large sized Arctic Night Greyhound T-shirt is ideal for him.

He feels the cold very easily so needs Greyhound clothing through most of the Autumn, Winter and Spring season, so the tighter fit works great for him as an additional layer under his coat, as well as an outdoor garment on its own.

X-Large Size

Finally, we also offer an ‘Extra-large’ size for the biggest Greyhounds out there. Usually males but not always!

The garment measures 90 cm (about 35.5 inches) around the chest and it is 80 cm (about 31.5 inches) long.

We recommend this size when your Greyhound’s chest measurement is between 80 and 87 cm (about 31 – 33.5 inches).

Which Greyhound Pyjamas Size To Buy

As you can see there is a bit of crossover between sizes. This is so we can accommodate every Greyhound possible in our range somewhere.

If your Greyhound is between two sizes (for example with a chest size of 74 – 75 cm, 80 – 81 cm or 86 – 87 cm), pick a size based on your personal preference between a snug fit and a relaxed one.

You may have noticed that the focus of our measurements is on the chest size – in our experience this is the most important measurement for choosing the right size for your Greyhound.

Our clothing is designed to start at the base of the neck and finish by covering a small amount of your dog’s tail.

In most cases the length of our standard sizes do this perfectly based on the chest measurement alone.

Please note: When you order a polo neck style the neck cuff is replaced with a cotton jersey polo neck, but this does not affect the final overall fit of the garment and the measurement should still be taken from the base of the neck.

But don’t worry, if your Greyhound is a slightly shorter or longer than the average size our Greyhound Pyjamas, T-shirts and Jumpers will still fit them just fine!

If your dog has particularly unique dimensions we are always happy to accommodate small variations from each size if needed.

Please make sure you always contact us before placing an order if you’d like a custom size, so we can discuss your dog’s measurements and agree what alterations will be needed for you.
